I have watched, endured, and seen God victorious over conflict my entire life.
I struggled without God in my life which led to emptiness of soul as a young adult. I channeled my energy into serving my country by enlisting into the United States Marine Corps at age 20. I served with worldly distinction and earned a commission as a second lieutenant in 1997. However, my spiritual downward spiral continued until 1998 when I was saved by Jesus Christ through His grace alone, and I received for the first time that which I have continued to live out – reconciliation, joy, freedom, and peace.
I retired from continuous active duty in 2016 as a lieutenant colonel after nearly 25 years. I mastered many vocations in the Marine Corps including print and broadcast journalism, public affairs, administrative services and project management, manpower management, recruiting/marketing operations management, and international security and cultural affairs. I served with all branches of the U.S. military in the United States on both coasts and in the Midwest, and served internationally in Spain, Japan, Haiti, and Afghanistan. After the Marine Corps, I worked briefly as administrative supervisor for a federal court in New York City and as a middle school teacher and administrative intern for a private Christian K-12 school in Long Island, New York. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College, a Master of Arts in Security Studies (Far East, SE Asia, the Pacific) from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Certificate of Completion in Japanese Language Studies from the Defense Language Institute.
In my Christian experience, I have been blessed to have served as a layman in ministries including leader and teacher of small group Bible studies, children’s and youth ministries, evangelical outreach events, men’s discipleship programs, prison ministry, disaster relief ministries, community outreach events, and worship ministries.
In summer 2017, I answered God’s calling to pursue full-time vocational ministry. I will complete my Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling with Liberty University in December 2018. While providing fully qualified conciliation services, I am completing formal certification as a Certified Christian Conciliator ™ under the advisement of my mentor, Judy Dabler of Creative Conciliation. I am a member of The American Association of Christian Counselors. My home base is central Iowa where my wife and I raise our four daughters.
Renewal Conciliation Services is the realization of my life-long vision and calling – to provide strengthening, encouraging, and comfort to all people through biblical reconciliation that brings true joy, freedom, and peace.
